The Brew® Mobile Platform (Brew MP) is a flexible operating system platform from Qualcomm that integrates Adobe Flash technology as a part of their core technology stack. It's openly extensible and capable of working with any software ecosystem throughout the global operator and OEM community.
Adobe Flash is integrated into Brew MP to allow for the creation of applications, user interfaces, web browser viewing, and widgets for any devices that uses the Brew MP.

The version of Adobe Flash that’s being used is Adobe Mobile Client and Flash Lite 3.1.7 and they are are highly optimized runtime engine for Brew MP that enables device manufacturers to differentiate their products by delivering rich, engaging user experiences to a broad range of their devices.
Here’s how the integration works: Using the Adobe Extension Manager, a Brew MP SDK extension installs itself as a post-processor to Adobe Flash Professional CS3 and greater. Developers create a new Flash project, selecting a BREW template in the appropriate screen size, color depth, frame rate and ActionScript version. They then author their Flash movie, including asset libraries, animation timelines and ActionScript.

To see their Flash movie running in BREW, they publish the SWF file, selecting Brew MP AppCreator as the publishing format and the target version of AMC on which the file will run. This starts the post-processing step, which bundles the SWF inside a BREW application shell, generates supporting files, and then plays the SWF on the device or in the Simulator.
At this point, developers have everything needed to test and debug the Flash asset as a BREW application, without writing a single line of BREW code.

Adobe Mobile Client is a highly optimized runtime engine for Brew MP that enables device manufacturers to differentiate their products by delivering rich, engaging user experiences to a broad range of their devices. Mobile Client enables developers to quickly create highly engaging and dynamic user interfaces and applications, speed time to market, and increase customer adoption and satisfaction.
Mobile Client provides Brew MP devices an optimized profile for deploying rich and engaging user experiences. By leveraging Flash 6 and a subset of ActionScript 1 and 2, performance has been enhanced and optimized for low specification devices that are constrained by less powerful processors and memory capacities. Mobile Client is tightly integrated with Brew MP providing developers with direct access into the BREW extensions and device application programming interfaces (APIs) allowing for quicker, easier user interface implementations and application development.
Mobile Client enables the delivery of rich, engaging user interfaces (UIs) and applications that extends brands, boost customer satisfaction, and increase customer adoption and loyalty. With an object-based extension mechanism, developers can easily implement rich UIs for displaying and device data to enable personalization and customization. For instance, device home screens can display dynamic and engaging images or content depending on device status like low battery levels, reception and other types of pertinent information. Customizable UIs enable manufacturers and mobile operators to engage subscribers with dynamic content and target new market segments. Developers can leverage their existing creative expertise with familiar authoring tools like Adobe Flash CS3 Professional to create rich, interactive applications and content that targets all Brew MP devices.
Flash Lite is the profile of the Flash Player designed for mobile phones and consumer electronic devices. It enables mobile application developers and designers to create rich, engaging content and applications, and customized user interfaces across device platforms.
Flash Lite 3.1.x provides Brew MP devices an optimized profile for deploying rich and engaging user experiences by leveraging Flash 8 and ActionScript 2. Flash Lite is tightly integrated with Brew MP providing developers with direct access into the BREW extensions and device application programming interfaces (APIs) allowing for quicker, easier user interface implementations and application development.
Flash Lite 3.1.x for Brew MP extends Flash to the growing Brew Mobile Platform from Qualcomm®, creating an exciting ecosystem for selling and distributing Flash-based content to Brew MP enabled handsets. Using the latest Flash development tools, Flash developers can create content and applications that can be offered direct to the consumer. For further detail regarding Flash Lite licensing, please contact Adobe.
With the exciting BREW marketplace opened to Flash developers, existing media can be repurposed or new applications can be designed, distributed, sold, and downloaded to a BREW handset with ease.
No longer will developers be waiting for Flash to be pre-installed on a handset before they can create content to sell to the public. The BREW platform provides the ability to download extra components, called “extensions”, to enable added functionality for the device. So, when a user selects an application or piece of content based on Flash Lite, the Flash Lite BREW extension is automatically downloaded over the air, immediately “Flash enabling” the handset. Once the Flash Lite BREW extension has been downloaded, the user will simply be able to run future content without any additional downloads.
Using an update provided for Flash Professional 8, developers will be able to take their Flash content and publish as a BREW executable. Once created, this BREW executable can be tested in the BREW Simulator, available in the BREW SDK, and transferred to a BREW device for testing.
To create necessary testing signatures and offer the Flash-based BREW content through the BREW Delivery System, developers will need to register with Qualcomm as a BREW developer here:
http://brew.qualcomm.com/brew/en/developer/resources/gs/get_auth.html
After registering with Qualcomm, you will have access to all the materials and tools to test, certify, and distribute your Flash-based BREW application.
